Cool Earth

Cool Earth, in a nutshell, creates schools, clinics and businesses for rainforest communities so they can better protect the forests from destruction.

The communities are reliant on the forests, which give them low impact livelihoods, and have most to lose when the bulldozers (yup, that really happens) come in to rip them up.

Over the last 40 years, half the world’s rainforests have been destroyed. Half.

Cool Earth is now working alongside 116 rainforest villages throughout the world.

These partner villages are protecting over 600,000 acres of forest that lie directly in the path of chainsaws and bulldozers.

The clever part is that this forest is forming a shield to make the neighbouring forest inaccessible  to loggers – saving millions of acres of further forest.

Canny. Leap has yelled excitedly about Cool Earth’s work to our clients as part of our work with them: and as a result, to date, we and our clients are now actively protecting over 300 acres of rainforest.

That’s such an easy way for us as a design studio to make work that matters.

Working this way means we lock carbon into existing tree stock, to add to that added via planting new trees.

At least 90% of each donation to Cool Earth goes directly to our projects. With this support, Cool Earth can put in place the simple steps that change the fate of at-risk
rainforest and the lives of our indigenous partners.

To date July 2015 Cool Earth have:

120,453,485 Trees Protected

35,410 People Supported

130,519,693 Tonnes of CO2 stored

501,946 Acres saved
